Yahoo is one of the most respected companies in the hosting business. Their user base has been growing rapidly year after year, with a very strong following. They started out in 1995 as a search engine growing into a massive empire branching out in all directions. However, just as their search prowess is declining thanks to Google, they not fairing that well in the hosting department either. Hopefully the new CEO will change things around.

Yahoo's webhosting doesn't come cheap at $11.96 per month. It comes with unlimited bandwidth and disk space, but they are very strict with what you do with it. Many users have complained about accounts being suspended, without prior notice due to them apparently abusing the system. Yahoo has since made very clear what can and can't be done with their unlimited plan.

We take support at Host Insight very seriously. Not one of the hosts on our list, know which account is ours, and we like to keep it that way to get an absolute objective view of their service. Yahoo's support, although not bad, we were left on hold numerous times, and it just felt like it was a huge effort on their part to help us. When we did get through to the right person, they were extremely helpful and new what they were talking about.

Uptime didn't fair nearly as well as we had hoped from a hosting company such as Yahoo. Just below average doesn't cut in the hosting world, especially when you can get far cheaper hosting, that's much more reliable! However the page loading of our websites was extremely quick thanks to their powerful services and redundant internet connections, but if users can't see your website because it is down, it make no difference!

Yahoo uses their own custom built control panel. Although very easy and intuitive to use, we found that due to it's simplicity it was very inflexible. We know Yahoo likes to place stricter control over their users accounts, but cPanel can do all this and more. Taking that into account, it did perform extremely well in page loads, making it very quick to use for tedious tasks.
